Dr Francesca Ducci
Doctor Francesca Ducci, MD, PhD, attained her medical education and postgraduate qualification in General Adult Psychiatry (CCST-equivalent) at the University of Pisa, Italy.
Over the years she has developed a broad range of clinical and research expertises working both in Europe and US.
Dr Ducci started her research activity in 2004 working as postdoctoral visiting fellow in the National Institute of Health, (NIH) Bethesda, USA with Dr David Goldman. At NIH she focused her research interest on the genetic and environmental risk factors associated with addiction and personality disorders. As a result of her work she obtained a PhD in neurobiology of affective disorder in 2008 and published multiples article for international scientific journals. She is now continuing her research activity in the discovery of genetic and environmental factors mediating vulnerability to mental illness working as Clinical Lecturer at the Institute of Psychiatry Kings College London with professor Prof Robin Murray.
Dr Ducci has been working as psychiatrist both in Italy and in the UK for many years gaining a vast experience in the treatment of all kind of mental illness with a special interest in anxiety, psychosis, and neuropsychiatry. In the UK, she worked in multiple psychiatric services including the COAST Early Intervention Unit for Psychosis (South London and Maudsley NHS trust), The Wandsworth Home Treatment Team, the Tooting and Balham Community Mental Health Team, and the Neuropsychiatric Department at St George’s Hospital (South West London & St George's Mental Health Trust).
She also trained as a therapist in Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) at the Cognitive Psychotherapy School in Rome, Italy.
Dr Ducci is currently working as Academic Clinical Lecturer at South West London & St George's Mental Health Trust. She is also Honorary Clinical Lecturer at the Institute of Psychiatry Kings College, and Honorary Professor in “Methodology of genetic research” at the University of Pisa, Italy.
