Eating Habits
- An average woman can have up to 20g saturated fat a day
- An average man can have up to 30g of saturated fat a day.
- Less is even better, especially if you want to lose weight.
Rather than just dieting choose a healthy diet. If there is something you really enjoy, which is high in fat, remember once in a while may be permitted, but in small portions only.
Keep healthy with a good diet:
- Choose reduced low or reduced fat foods
- Replace saturated fats with mono or polyunsaturated fats.
- Avoid full cream milk, swap it with semi or skimmed milk
- Olive oil or low fat spreads instead of vegetable oil and butter
- Eat five portions of fruit and vegetables everyday
- Reduce salt intake
- Increase the amount of fibre in your diet
- Boost up Omega-3 fat intake from oily fish and repressed oil
- Drink alcohol in moderation.
- Keep within limits of no more than:
- 14 units for women
- 21 units for men.
- Keep within limits of no more than:
- Keep well hydrated with water and fluids:
- 2.5 litres daily
- 6-8 glasses daily.
