Dr Ilenia Pampaloni

I am a General Adult Psychiatrist with a Special interest in Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

I graduated in Medicine in 2002 and completed my Specialist Training in Psychiatry in 2006 at the University of Florence, Italy.

I gained a vast clinical experience from working in both private and National Service settings in Italy and United Kingdom. I have been working in UK since 2007 as a geneal Adult Psychiatrist. I had the privilege of working as Associate Specialist at the National NHS Service for Treatment-Resistant Obsessive Compulsive Disorders at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital with Prof Naomi Fineberg for two years where I gained expertise and specialist skills in the management of treatment -resistant Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.

Since May 2009, I have been appointed as substantive Consultant Psychiatrist in the NHS, initially in a Community Mental Health Team and subsequently in a Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Team.

As a result of my special interest in Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, I co-authored multiples articles for international scientific journals and co-authored a book chapter. She studied for several years the neurobiology of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and has gained expertise in managing the most treatment resistant types of OCD.

I integrated my interest in the most up to date pharmacological treatments with a psychodynamic approach and I trained in Mentalization Based Treatment (MBT) for Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorders at the Anna Freud Centre and I currently work for 1 session per week in a Tier 3 Specialist Service for Personality Disorders in the NHS.

I offer assessment and treatment for most psychiatric conditions, including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, OCD, stress reactions. I have a holistic approach and as well as offering effective and up-to dated pharmacological treatment, I offer a comprehensive assessment of psychological difficulties and I am able to advise the most appropriate psychological treatment, where appropriate.
